LIPARDO’S QUICK SHAWARMA

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

It’s a Mexican taco or burrito of the Middle East. Pita or flat bread is used in shawarma while corn or wheat tortilla is used in taco or flour tortilla in burrito. Both have variety of fillings like meat, vegetables, sauces, etc. For those who are living in the Middle East or any place where Arabian stores are located, this recipe I made is so quick and easy…

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 kg. chicken breast, cut into strips

1 lemon juice

1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. black pepper

pinch of MSG

oil for frying

pita or flat bread

garlic mayonnaise

frozen french fries

cucumber pickles in bottle

DIRECTIONS:

1.  Marinate chicken with lemon, salt, black pepper and MSG. Stand for at least 15 minutes.

2. Stir fry in hot oil until light brown. Set aside.

3.  Deep fry the frozen french fries in the same oil.

4.  Heat the flat bread on a hot griddle or frying pan.

5.  Spread garlic mayonnaise evenly on pita.

6.  Fill with chicken, cucumber and french fries.

7.  Roll bread like a spring roll.

8.  Serve hot with hot sauce or ketchup.

NOTE:  Cucumber pickles must be washed to reduce sourness. Cut it into thinner strips if desired.
